The Sun have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to face competition from a whole host of clubs around Europe for Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi.
Furuhashi has been prolific since signing for the Bhoys from J League club Vissel Kobe back in 2021, with the 28-year-old finding the back of the net 34 times in 54 appearances in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).
Spurs could face competition for Furuhashi
The Sun suggest that while Ange Postecoglou now wants to take the Japanese striker with him to Tottenham, the North London club are far from his only admirers.
The report suggests that Furuhashi has been scouted by Lazio this season, while he also has admirers in Ligue 1 and La Liga, who are considering a move for the forward.
The Sun asserts that the 28-year-old, who is valued at £20m, is expected to be Postecoglou’s number one target this summer, with the Lilywhites now expected to launch a ‘huge bid’ for the player.
The publication claims that while Tottenham are yet to make an official approach for Furuhashi, the presence of Postecoglou at the club would make the club an appealing destination for the striker.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am sceptical about this report as I think the speculation linking Furuhashi with Tottenham seems to be purely based on Postecoglou’s switch to Spurs.
There does not seem to be any other concrete basis to suggest that the Lilywhites are considering a move for the 28-year-old.
