According to The Sunday People – (25/6; page 61) Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move to re-sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Celtic.
Carter-Vickers was seen by many at Spurs as an extremely promising talent while making his way through the age group ranks of the club’s academy.
Former boss Mauricio Pochettino even suggested back in 2017 that the centre-back had the potential to become ‘the best defender in England’ (Football.London).
However, the USA International struggled to break into the Tottenham first team, making a total of just five senior appearances for the North London club (Transfermarkt).
Following a successful loan stint at Celtic during the 2021-22 season, the Scottish giants took the option to buy Carter-Vickers permanently for £6m last summer, and the 25-year-old enjoyed another impressive season at Parkhead, playing a crucial role in the Bhoys’ historic treble win last season.
Postecoglou is keen on a reunion with Carter-Vickers
The Sunday People have now suggested that a return to Tottenham could be on the cards for the centre-back this summer.
It is explained that Postecolgou wants the Spurs hierarchy to raid his former club for Carter-Vickers as he goes about strengthening the Lilywhites’ backline ahead of his first season in charge.
Spurs Web Opinion
The difference in quality between the Scottish Premiership and the Premier League is so vast that it would not make much sense to sign any player based on their performances up north.
However, Postecoglou has worked with Carter-Vickers closely for two years and would understand the 25-year-old’s strengths and weaknesses better than most.
