Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlous has praised the transfer activity of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, telling Sky Sports that Spurs are ‘looking good’ ahead of the new season.

Parlour played for the Gunners from 1991 to 2004, and was part of the famous Invincibles side of the 2003/04 season. The central midfielder, nicknamed the Romford Pele, also earned 10 England caps in his career (Transfermarkt).

As clubs in England prepare for the forthcoming campaign, adding new talent to the squad has been a priority for the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea, as they look to secure Champions League football and keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool.

While Chelsea are finally making moves in the transfer market, having signed Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly (Transfermarkt), Spurs have been strengthening their squad all summer.

Six new arrivals at Tottenham Hotspur have left many within the club excited about the season ahead. Now, Parlour has offered his praise for Spurs, and warned his former club that breaking into the top four will be difficult.

He said (Sky Sports): “We all look at Manchester City and Liverpool, they are so far above everybody. Chelsea are looking strong as well. They are going to have a go. They have their new owners. I am sure they are going to be very successful going forward as well.

“Spurs are looking good. They have strengthened. Every single team has strengthened. It’s going to be difficult (for Arsenal), but you have to believe you can do it. It’s a young side, so they have to learn from their mistakes from last season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

You know things are going well when your rivals are even praising you, so for Parlour to speak so highly of Spurs is a sign of how dangerous the club can be this season. However, it takes more than words to have a successful campaign, and Spurs will need to be firing on all cylinders from the word go if they want to compete at the very top.
