After playing a starring role in the North London derby yesterday, James Maddison should be feeling pretty happy with himself. However, the Spurs star picked up a knock in that game and has revealed how he feels about the potential injury.
James Maddison has made a fantastic start to his Tottenham career since joining the club from Leicester City this summer. Providing two assists for his captain, Heung-min Son, in the game against Arsenal, Maddison now has six goal contributions this season (Transfermarkt).
This early season test against the Gunners ended in a 2-2 draw, meaning both sides retain their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign. While Spurs will be happy with the point away from home, the North London club do have a couple of issues coming away from the game.
Both Brennan Johnson and Maddison needed treatment during the match. While the former left the field immediately, the latter played on a while longer before being replaced by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Maddison jolted his knee during NLD
The latest update on Maddison’s situation comes from the Evening Standard, who claim the 26-year-old left the Emirates Stadium without crutches or ice and seemed to be in good condition. However, it is said Spurs will carry out “further checks” on their star player to assess the damage.
Speaking on the matter, Maddison said: “I had a little moment when I tackled Jorginho where I jolted my knee a little bit. You do not want to ever be playing in a derby where you are not at 100 per cent because it can cost the team, so I had to come off for the last little period.”

I really hope this is nothing serious for Maddison. The fact he left the stadium without any visible issues is a good sign, but you never know. He has been so important for us this season, that it would be worrying to think what we would do without him now.
