Danny Rose has revealed that Harry Kane once told him he would score 45 goals a season if he played for Manchester City.

Despite Tottenham’s struggles this season, Kane has continued scoring prolifically, with the striker having found the back of the net 27 times in the Premier League this campaign, with two more games to go (Transfermarkt).

However, the striker is not in contention for the Premier League Golden Boot this season, with Erling Haaland sitting well clear of the Tottenham man with 36 strikes to his name so far.

The Norwegian does have the benefit of playing for a brilliant Manchester City side, who create chances galore each game and look on course to comfortably win the title once again.

That perhaps raises the question of how many Kane would have scored had he played for Pep Guardiola’s men and Rose revealed that it is something the England captain has himself talked about in the past.

The former Spurs left-back told Stadium Astro: “I remember when I was still at the club, we were having a conversation and he said, ‘gosh, if I was at [Manchester] City I would score 45 goals’.

“I remember thinking, ‘yeah, okay Harry, calm down’, and actually looking at it now I think he’s right, he could easily score 45 goals.”

Had Kane got a move to Manchester City in 2021, there is no doubt that he would have taken his goalscoring exploits to a different level.

He would also have a couple of titles to his name, thus putting to rest any doubts over whether he is one of the greatest players to grace the Premier League.
