Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Arsenal have made contact over the signing of Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.

Kulusevski has struggled for game time at Juventus so far this season, having started just two Serie A matches.

CalcioMercato reported last month that Spurs were one of the clubs keeping an eye on the Swedish international ahead of the January transfer window.

Juve Live claimed last week that Fabio Paratici, who was instrumental in bringing the winger to Turin, could look to take him to North London in January.

The report further added that Massimiliano Allegri’s men could be willing to cash in on the 21-year-old if receive an offer of around €30m (£25.4m).

However, Di Marzio have now stated that the Gunners have moved ahead of their North London rivals in the race for Kulusevski, having made first contact with the player’s representatives.

When asked if the Juventus star is more likely to join Tottenham or Arsenal, the journalist told Sky Sports: “Arsenal, Arsenal wants him. They’ve had the first contacts with the agents.

“Juventus bought him for €35m plus bonuses, so it depends on how much Arsenal want to invest in this player.

“But I know the first contacts are made by [Arsenal].”

Spurs Web Opinion

While we know that Paratici rates Kulusevski, the Swede does not strike me as being a good fit for Conte’s system. The Juve man is at his best out wide but we know that Conte expects his attackers to tuck in and his wing-backs to provide the width in his system.
