90 min have claimed that Dejan Kulusevski has to win over Ange Postecoglou in order to convince Tottenham to take the option to sign him permanently.
12 months ago, activating the £30m option to sign Kulusevski seemed like a no-brainer for Tottenham, given the impact that the Swede had in his first six months in North London following his switch from Juventus in January of last year.
However, the 23-year-old struggled to hit those same heights during his first full season at Spurs, ending an injury-hit 2022-23 campaign with just two goals and eight assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Postecoglou is not fully convinced by Kulusevski
90 min have now claimed that Postecoglou is not too convinced by Kulusevski at the moment and the winger may thus have to win over the Tottenham boss in pre-season if the North London club are to activate the clause.
The report asserts that the clause only stands at £26m rather than the previously reported figure of £30m and that the Lilywhites only have two more weeks in which to trigger the clause and buy the former Atalanta man permanently.
Spurs Web Opinion
Even if Postecoglou does not feel Kulusevski would be an automatic starter, one would have thought that the Australian would see value in keeping the Swede as a squad player.
I personally think £26m represents great value for money for a player of the 23-year-old’s quality.
