Dejan Kulusevski has admitted that he found it hard to deal with the uncertainty over where he would be playing his football next season but remarked that he is happy the move to Tottenham has been finalised.
Kulusevski has now completed a permanent switch to Spurs from Juventus on the back of his 18-month loan spell at the club, with the Lilywhites taking the £25.6m option to sign him just days after the transfer window opened.
It was not always clear that the Lilywhites would take up the option to sign the 23-year-old, with some reports over the past few weeks even suggesting that Ange Postecoglou was not convinced by the winger (90 min).
However, Alasdair Gold explained via Football.London a couple of days ago that the Australian did indeed give the green light for the club to complete the deal for Kulusevski.
The journalist added that the new Tottenham head coach views the Swede as someone who can not only play out wide in a 4-3-3 but could also fill in as a number eight if required.
Kulusevski has now remarked that he is relieved the deal has been completed so he can start looking for a new home.
Kulusevski not happy with how Spurs situation went
When asked about the switch to Spurs, he told Viaplay (as relayed by Expressen): “I don’t think the situation has been handled the way it should be handled, but I’m happy that everything is ready now and that it will be Tottenham.
“Of course, I would have wished that everything had been clear much earlier and that I should not sit and wait for a decision to be made. But with how it turned out with the coaches in the club the club had to change a lot of people.
“I understand that it took extra time that you had to wait for the new people to come in to be able to ask them. It has been hard to wait, you always want to know where you are going to live. Finally, I can plan for the future and find a new home.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that Spurs did not have a head coach or a sporting director in place probably contributed to the uncertainty over Kulusevski’s future as it meant that the club had to wait until Postecoglou arrived before activating the option to sign the Swede.
