Dejan Kulusevski has been speaking to the press about a number of things, and had plenty to say about the ongoing speculation regarding Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite the excitement of a new manager being at Tottenham, the majority of the talk around the club this summer has been focused on Harry Kane and whether he will stay at the club or move on.

The England captain is into the final 12 months of his contract with Spurs, and there is increasing concern among the Lilywhites’ supporters that Ange Postecoglou will begin the Premier League campaign without his star striker.

Bayern Munich have been pursuing the 30-year-old all summer, but have recently had their third bid for Kane rejected by Tottenham who appear intent on keeping hold of their talisman (The Athletic). It is thought the two clubs remain £25m apart in their valuations of Kane.

Kulusevski hopes Kane will stay at Spurs

Speaking to the media (via Football.London) after Tottenham’s latest pre-season fixture, a 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, Dejan Kulusevski commented on Kane’s importance to the Spurs squad and revealed how he feels about his teammates’ future.

When asked if it would be good to get Kane’s situation resolved before the season begins, Kulusevski said: “You saw. He scored four goals [against Shakhtar], so very good!

“Nah, he’s unbelievable. Honestly, his mentality… I can learn from him like everybody. He just goes out and performs day in, day out. He’s a true professional.

“I’m happy I helped him score today but of course we want him to stay and we’ll do everything to make him stay.

“On the other hand, you can only control what you can control. We players cannot do anything about it. We work our hardest, try to stay ready and the players that manage it, it’s up to them.”

With the latest bid for Kane rejected, it appears Bayern may well give up the chase, for this summer at least. Hopefully, we can get off to a good start this season, and Kane will decide to sign a new contract with Spurs to keep him there for the rest of his career.
