The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a double-raid of Sporting Lisbon for Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week that signing a right wing-back and another attacker are Antonio Conte’s priorities in January.

There seems to be little doubt now that Porro is Tottenham’s top target for the right wing-back role (The Athletic) but there have been contrasting reports regarding the club’s pursuit of the Spaniard over recent days.

While some publications have suggested that Spurs are expected to get a deal for the 23-year-old over the line by the end of this week (Daily Star), other outlets have said that the player is expected to stay put at Sporting (Record).

The Mail are now the latest publication to report on Tottenham’s pursuit of Porro, explaining that the Portuguese club have been unwilling to sanction the right-back’s sale unless the North London club meet the player’s £40m release clause.

The report adds that the Lilywhites are also planning on re-signing Edwards, who left the club back in the summer of 2019.

The winger, who impressed in the two Champions League matches against Spurs earlier this season, is said to have a release clause of £52m in his contract.

However, it is explained that Antonio Conte’s men would only need to pay half of that fee since they have a 50 per cent sell-on clause on the youngster.

Edwards would fit the profile of forward Spurs need as a cover for Dejan Kulusevski on the right, given his ability to carry the ball. The 24-year-old would also be considered homegrown and the deal would represent great value for money owing to the sell-on clause.
