Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with former Manchester City officials to seek their opinion on Pedro Porro, according to the print edition of Portuguese news outlet O Jogo (17/12/22).
The Sporting Lisbon right wing-back is said to be one of a number of players that Tottenham are keeping tabs on ahead of the January transfer window as they seek to improve the quality of Antonio Conte’s squad for the remainder of the campaign.
Tottenham are reported to have reservations over the 23-year-old’s ‘physical condition’ after he has already suffered a number of muscular injuries in his young career.
Porro joined Manchester City for around £5.5million in 2019 from sister-club Girona and was immediately loaned out to Real Valladolid for the season and later joined Sporting on loan in 2020 for a two-year spell, before sealing a permanent transfer (Manchester Evening News).
Tottenham officials have reached out to those who previously worked at the Eithad to get their understanding of the defender’s track record considering he currently has a €45m (£39.1m) release clause with the Portuguese giants.

Tottenham need to get it right with their next right wing-back having made a big error with the recruitment of Emerson Royal, who has proven that he is not up to the required standard of a wide player under Antonio Cote.
The club needs not only a player who is solid defensively, but can also contribute in the opposite half of the pitch with consistent, quality delivery for the likes of Harry Kane to feed on.
