Tottenham Hotspur could be set to use the economic rights they own for Marcus Edwards as part of their negotiations with Sporting to bring Pedro Porro to North London, according to Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manhã.
Spurs allowed Edwards to make the move to Vitoria in the summer of 2019 for nothing in exchange for a 50 per cent sell-on fee and when he joined Sporting earlier this summer, they agreed with the Portuguese side to transfer his sell-on clause to his new contract, instead of banking £4.5m (Telegraph).
It is now reported that Tottenham could use their 50 per cent rights in an effort to reduce a transfer fee which would see Pedro Porro make the switch to the Premier League.
Porro spent the last two seasons on loan with the Lisbon-based outfit before making a switch from Manchester City on a permanent basis in the summer.
The Spaniard, who has one senior cap to his name, impressed during the Champions League group stages, having played in both the home and away fixtures against Spurs, with Sporting emerging victorious in their 2-0 win in Portugal.

Daniel Levy is known for his inventive ways to lower his net spend and this could be another occasion where he looks to land a transfer target at a price that suits him, however, it could mean also missing out on a sizeable windfall should Edwards continue to impress at Sporting and secure a big-money move elsewhere in the future.
