A new report from Alasdair Gold for Football.London has highlighted four wing-backs that Tottenham Hotspur are looking at for the January transfer window.
With the domestic season now back underway after the World Cup and the January transfer window set to open again soon, clubs across the Premier League will be turning their attention to bolstering their squads to navigate the rest of the campaign.
As always, there are rumours abound, with multiple names linked to Tottenham for a variety of positions. It is well-known that Spurs are keen to add a new right wing-back to the squad (90 Min), with that area of the team proving to be something of a problem for Antonio Conte.
The latest from Gold suggests Emerson Royal could be on his way out of the club, with Spurs willing to listen to offers for the Brazilian in order to make room for a replacement. The report names Pedro Porro, Vanderson, Denzel Dumfries, and Malo Gusto as four names on the Spurs wishlist.
Gold claims Spurs “have a strong interest” in Porro and cites Fabio Paratici as a “fan” of the player, but reiterates there are some concerns over whether the 23-year-old “physically fits the mould of a Conte wing-back.”
Dumfries has been linked to the Lilywhites for a while now, and it is thought that Spurs and Chelsea would battle it out for his signature should Inter Milan be willing to let him go (TuttoSport).
The one issue Gold foresees on that front is the fact the player now carries a “hefty price tag” after an impressive World Cup.
Vanderson and Gusto are newer names on the Tottenham radar, with Paratici reportedly an admirer of the former, who can “play anywhere down the right-hand side.” Again, the issue with Vanderson is that Monaco could command a “sizeable fee” due to the fact his contract runs until 2027.
As for Gusto, a player Gold claims the youngster is regarded as the “next big talent in French football,” a move could be more viable. With just 18 months remaining on his contract, the 21-year-old “ticks the boxes of Tottenham’s transfer profile,” though there may be some doubts over his “attacking output.”

For me, our number one priority in January has to be signing Pedro Porro. We know exactly how much it will cost, which saves a lot of messing around in negotiations, and the player seems like a perfect fit for our system. I know there are some doubts over his physicality, but I personally don’t see the problem – whenever I’ve watched him, he’s been quick, strong, and aggressive.
