Rumoured Tottenham target, Pedro Goncalves has sent a message of support to Pedro Porro after the right-back took to social media to suggest that he is going through a tough time.
Porro’s defensive work came under scrutiny once again on Saturday, with the right wing-back giving the ball away in the lead-up to the Cherries’ equaliser in the first half.
The 23-year-old was allegedly criticised by plenty of supporters on social media, prompting him to delete both his Instagram and Twitter accounts (Football.London).
However, Porro has since activated both his accounts and he thanked his fans and those close to him for the messages of love he had received.
The Spaniard’s post reads: “You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have left. Thanks for the messages of love.”
Goncalves has responded to his former Sporting teammate’s post with the comment: “Everything passes brother. You will always have our support.”
The attacking midfielder is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, with 90 min reporting last week that the North London club are ‘watching him closely’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, it has seen been suggested by multiple outlets that Spurs would have to activate Goncalves’ €80m (£70.6m) release clause if they wish to sign him (Record via Sport Witness).
Spurs Web Opinion
If Goncalves is of interest to Spurs, the current toxic atmosphere at the club and the treatment by the fans of his friend and former teammate, Porro, is certainly not a great endorsement.
However, it is good to see that Porro has reactivated his profiles instead of cowering to the trolls.
