The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham insiders have been struck by Pedro Porro’s ‘great attitude’ since he arrived at the club in January.

Porro certainly has not had the easiest start to life at Spurs since his big-money switch from Sporting Lisbon.

Not only has the 23-year-old come in for scathing criticism for some of his defensive lapses but he has also had to settle in at a time when the club has been in crisis mode, with plenty of changes at the top (Evening Standard).

However, despite all that has gone on, Porro has shown glimpses of his quality going forward and has already demonstrated that he is very dangerous in the right system.

The Spaniard was one of Tottenham’s most dangerous players in the win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, setting up the match-winner with a pin-point cross for Harry Kane to head home from close range on the cusp of half time.

The Athletic have now revealed that apart from his ability, Porro’s excellent attitude has also not gone unnoticed at Hotspur Way.

The report reveals that the right-back comes across as a team man who constantly cajoles his teammates from the substitutes’ bench and he is already becoming an increasingly bigger presence in the dressing room.

Porro is also said to possess ‘an endearing exuberance’ and there is a sense at the club that he will continue working hard to make the necessary improvements to his game.

There really is no doubt about Porro’s quality going forward but it is clear that he has to operate as a wing-back rather than as a full-back.

So, Tottenham will have a huge dilemma on their hands if the next head coach prefers operating with a back four as the Spaniard might simply not fit into the tactical set-up.
