Fichajes have claimed that Barcelona are plotting a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back, Pedro Porro.

Porro has not had the easiest first six months at Tottenham, arriving at the club at a tumultuous time. In his short stint at the club, he has already played under three different managers in Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

While the 23-year-old has shown plenty of promise going forward, he has not quite displayed the defensive nous and discipline required to play in a back four.

Barcelona are looking at a move for Pedro Porro

Fichajes claim that Porro could be on his way out of North London, just six months on from signing for the club.

The report states that Barcelona are prioritising strengthening at right-back this summer and have identified a ‘long list of candidates’ in which the Tottenham man ‘stands out’.

The outlet claims that the fact that the Spain international’s struggles at Spurs have not put off the Catalan club’s hierarchy, who are convinced of the player’s quality.

Fichajes add that Xavi has requested the Barca management to sign a top right-back, and on the back of some poor acquisitions in that area over recent years, the club have now set their sights on Porro ahead of the new season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Porro has shown enough going forward to suggest that Tottenham could potentially have a special talent on their hands.

He is only likely to get better as he adapts to the demands of the Premier League.

However, having said that, the 23-year-old almost certainly does not have the attributes to adapt to an inverted full-back role, which is why he might be perceived by the club as not being a good fit for Postecoglou’s system.
