The Standard have revealed that Ange Postecoglou did not take kindly to one senior Tottenham man being rude to a member of staff during pre-season.
The report discusses the ‘cultural reset’ that Postecoglou has overseen at Spurs, with his main message said to be that everyone should be grateful for where they are and treat those around them with respect.
When an unnamed senior player spoke disrespectfully to a member of medical staff during the pre-season tour, Postecoglou is alleged to have given the player a dressing down in front of the whole squad, thus sending a clear message to the players about what is expected from them.
Postecoglou will not take any rubbish at Tottenham
It is explained that the Australian also made his displeasure clear to Yves Bissouma when he turned up late for pre-season training, stating that it was not what he expected from a potential leader.
The Standard also reveals that Postecoglou is a meticulous timekeeper, who treats the players like adults.
It is suggested that the result of these changes implemented by the 58-year-old is a warmer, more respectful and trusting environment at the club, with players having developed a ‘deep trust’ for the manager.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Postecoglou evidently gives players the freedom to express themselves on the training pitch and in matches, it is clear that he has some strict non-negotiables in terms of the players’ conduct and their behaviour off the pitch.
