Luton boss Nathan Jones has hailed Spurs loanee, Cameron Carter-Vickers following his short-term switch in January.
The 22-year-old has struggled to make it at Spurs since coming through the academy with only four senior appearances to his name (Transfermarkt).
Carter-Vickers made his fifth loan move of his career when he joined Luton Town in January in an attempt to help the Championship strugglers revive their season.
“Cam’s a good athlete, he’s a good defender and I took him at Stoke after the injury to Ryan Shawcross,” Jones told Luton Today.
“He’s difficult to replace, Shawcross, we went a different route with a different type of defender and Cam has done really well.”
The United States international was on loan at Stoke City earlier in the season making 12 appearances in the Championship for the Potters.
“I like Cam, he’s a really good lad, fits into the dressing room quite easily, he’s very amiable, hard-working, fit.
“Because he comes from Tottenham he’s had a good education, we know that and any young player I’ve ever taken from Tottenham character-wise has been wonderful.
“Athletically he’s very good so, to be honest with you that didn’t surprise me.”
However, due to an expected lack of game time for the remainder of the season, Spurs recalled the defender and allowed him to see the season out with Luton.
Carter-Vickers is out of contract next year at Spurs and with his future at the club not looking like it will develop any further, it could be this summer where we see the defender depart.
Spurs Web Opinion
I just cannot see how Carter-Vickers can rescue his career at Spurs. He is now onto his fifth loan spell and there has never been the prospect of him returning from a loan and making his mark in the Tottenham team.
