Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has failed to rule out the club returning for the services of Cameron Carter-Vickers again this summer.
Carter-Vickers had an outstanding loan spell at Luton in the second half of last season and was a crucial part of their impressive defensive record towards the end of the campaign which helped the club pull off a great escape from relegation.
The 22-year-old has been involved in all three of Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies so far against Ipswich Town, Reading and Birmingham City, and he has hardly put a foot wrong.
The USA international completed all ninety minutes against Birmingham City on Saturday and put in an accomplished performance as the Lilywhites kept a clean sheet and ran out 1-0 winners.
Jones has now admitted that his reluctance to dip into the loan market this summer but refused to rule out the possibility of re-signing Carter-Vickers if he is available on a permanent basis.
When asked if the club will return for the Spurs academy graduate, he told Luton Today: “It might not rule out going back in for Cameron, but what we don’t like doing is loans, so you can work your own way out from that.
“We prefer our own players as when we add value to players which we believe we do add value, we would like that value to be ours, that’s what we do.”

Carter-Vickers reportedly has only one year left on his contract with Spurs and since he is unlikely to extend his stay, we are guaranteed to cash-in on him this summer. So, if Luton want to sign him, they will have to do so permanently rather than taking him on loan. Given how well the 22-year-old played towards the end of last season, I can see multiple Championship clubs being ready to take a punt on the defender.
