The Evening Standard have revealed on their live transfer blog (Dec 31, 13:30) that Hull City, Sunderland, Portsmouth and Luton Town are all battling it out to sign Harvey White on loan.
It now looks like one of Tottenham’s academy starlets in White could be on his way out of Hotspur Way before the deadline.
The Evening Standard have claimed that the 20-year-old is of interest to two League One clubs in Sunderland and Portsmouth, and two Championship clubs in Hull and Luton.
White shone during his loan spell at Pompey in the second half of last season and the midfielder has been in exceptional form for Tottenham’s Under-23s this campaign.
The youngster was also named on the substitute bench by Antonio Conte for Spurs’ last Premier League clash against Chelsea.
The Evening Standard add that Stoke City have also enquired about White but the Potters are alleged to be interested in a summer move.
Spurs Web Opinion
White will benefit a great deal by playing competitive senior football in the lower leagues rather than continuing to play for the Under-23s. He has shown already this season that he is too good for that level.
It will be interesting to see how the 20-year-old gets on in the Championship, although I suspect Spurs might prefer to send him to League One so that he would be guaranteed regular game time.
