Today’s rumours are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur will lose one full-back, but replace him with another during the Summer transfer window.
According to The Mirror, Spurs left-back Danny Rose is more likely to leave North-London than stay, with Manchester United the most plausible destination for the 26 year old.
This rumour has surfaced many times over the last few months, but has constantly had little credibility. The article released by The Mirror implies that Rose is being lured away from Spurs due to the wage structure in place under Chairman Daniel Levy. It is also reported that Rose’s comments in the interview with BBC 5-Live was a hint at his own future and not his team-mates’. But this is just silly speculation. There is, in reality, very little reason to believe Danny Rose will jump ship to Manchester United.
Yet, according to The Sun, Spurs have already secured his replacement in 17 year old wonder-kid, Ryan Sessegnon.
Although links between the young full-back and Tottenham were reported weeks ago, there is still very little evidence that any deal has been finalised. The report from The Sun suggests that Tottenham lead, or have already won, the race for Sessegnon’s signature mainly because of manager Mauricio Pochettino and his success with younger footballers appealing to the 17 year old. While that is believable, there are still no sources cited. It’s all pure speculation.
I would like for Tottenham to sign Sessegnon. The £15 million price-tag strikes me as rather cheap for someone considered to be the ‘next Gareth Bale’. But as for Danny Rose leaving, that’s just a tiresome rumour. The papers have been at it for a while and we’re sure to read plenty more of it over June and July. But what do you think? Is there any chance Rose would leave? And if he did, would you be happy with Sessegnon as his replacement?
