According to The Mirror, 17 year old wonder-kid Ryan Sessegnon has snubbed advances from Tottenham in order to extend his stay at Fulham for another 3 years.
Earlier in the year, Liverpool and Spurs had been locked in a tug-of-war over the promising full-back Ryan Sessegnon, who’d been likened to the Welsh Wizard Gareth Bale at just 17 years of age.
Last month, Liverpool appeared to pull out of the race, with Tottenham emerging as the new favourites for the youngster’s signature.
However, today all the speculation can be put to an end, according to The Mirror, as the left-back has put pen to paper at his current club Fulham with a new contract which will see him stay at Craven Cottage until 2020.
The report reveals Sessegnon is very happy at Fulham and values regular football above all else, in his bid to earn his way into the England set-up.
The defender has already been called up for England’s Under 19 squad for the European Championships in Georgia in July.
Sessegnon is also reportedly interested in securing promotion next season, where Fulham will then be able to face Premier League outfits such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City, who also made offers for the youngster.
I find this to be very disappointing news, but once those 3 years are up, Sessegnon will only be 20 years old. Then we’ll find out whether £15 million would have been worth it or not, and if we’re winning things, there’s no reason why a future England star wouldn’t join Spurs then, if not now.
