According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had a bid of £25 million rejected by Fulham for 17 year old rising-star left-back Ryan Sessegnon.
Earlier in the Summer, Liverpool and Tottenham were thought to be battling it out head-to-head in the race to sign teenage defender Ryan Sessegnon, who worked his way up through the ranks at Craven Cottage in the Championship last season.
The full-back quickly emerged as one of England’s hottest prospects after scoring 7 goals, as well as assisting 3 times, in 29 appearances for the Cottagers in his breakthrough season at just 17 years of age.
Speculation was to put to an end in late June however, when the youngster put pen to paper on a new 3 year contract at Fulham, snubbing advances from Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, according to The Telegraph, Tottenham have re-opened their interest in the teenager and have already had a bid of £25 million rejected by the fellow London club.
Fulham have consistently taken a firm stance on Sessegnon’s future with the club, as evidenced by the contract agreement in June, of which gaffer Slavisa Jokanovic claimed would signal the player’s long-term commitment to Fulham.
“Ryan joined our first-team squad early during pre-season last summer.” Jokanovic told SkySports back in June.
“One year on, I’m pleased that Ryan’s performances have been rewarded with his first professional contract with Fulham and he will continue to be part of our project in the future.”
“He is an exceptional young player,” He added. “Who has demonstrated loyalty and commitment by continuing to serve this club since his progression from the academy.”
Sessegnon, who is able to play at both left-back and right-back, further demonstrated his talent during the England Under 19s European Championship campaign, which they went on to win in Georgia.
Unfortunately for Spurs, the youngster is understood to be very happy at his current club and Fulham therefore are under no pressure to sell.
According to SkySports, Spurs are also interested in Ryan’s twin brother Steven Sessegnon, who is also a defender on the books at Fulham.
