Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski and Ryan Sessegnon have been talking to Sky Sports about the second half of the season and what the preparation has been like for those not at the World Cup.
The first half of the season has been a relatively successful period for Spurs. While some performances have been frustrating, when the campaign paused for the World Cup, the North London club found themselves in fourth place in the Premier League and through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Spurs have not played a competitive match since November 12, a thrilling 4-3 win over Leeds United. Since then, the World Cup has been taking place over in Qatar, with a number of Tottenham players involved throughout.
For those not at the World Cup, there has been a short rest before returning to the training pitch and even playing a friendly last week against Motherwell to ensure everyone is sharp and ready for the season to resume.
Kulusevski and Sessegnon are two of those players who stayed at home, with Sweden not qualifying for the World Cup and Sessegnon not making Gareth Southgate’s squad. In a recent chat with Sky Sports, they revealed how the preparation for the second half of the season has been going.
Sessegnon said: “Obviously we’re going to give it our all in the next phase of this season. We’re still in the Champions League, still in the top four. We finished the last game before the break very well, so we need to keep that momentum going. Hopefully, everyone can come back firing and ready.”
On the intensity of training, Kulusevski added: “Every day, all day [is double sessions]. That’s what we have to do, if you want results, you have to work. The staff are going hard but the players, we listen to everything and we will be as ready as possible.”
Asked if Spurs can challenge for the title, Kulusevski said: “I don’t want to put any pressure on the team.
“I know we’re a good team, and I think we can do better than we did the last six months, so we’re going to go hard and give it all. You can’t ask for more than that. You give your best, do what the coach says, and we see where we end up.”

Spurs Web Opinion
I have high hopes for the second half of the season. We saw last year the momentum put together in the latter stages of the campaign, and I have a feeling Conte and his team will be suitably prepared to take advantage of any tired legs after the World Cup and push to consolidate that top-four spot.
