Mundo Deportivo have reported that Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Emerson Royal.
With Matt Doherty failing to impress since his move to the club last summer and Serge Aurier continuing to be plagued by inconsistency, it has been reported that Tottenham are in the market to sign a new right-back this summer.
Emerson is rumoured to be one of the players on Spurs’ radar, with previous reports indicating that Barcelona are ready to sell the 22-year-old.
The Catalans reportedly own 50 per cent of the player but have the option to purchase another 30 per cent from Betis if they wish.
Mundo Deportivo now claim that while Barca are ready to cash in on Emerson this summer, they could decide to hang on to him if they do not receive a suitable offer.
It is revealed that Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG have made an offer of around €15m (£13m) for the right-back, a figure that falls short of Barcelona’s valuation.
The report explains that a significant portion of the transfer fee would go to Betis and so it would take a much higher bid to convince Ronald Koeman’s side to sell Emerson.
Spurs Web Opinion
Emerson fits into the profile of players we would go for as he is unlikely to be too expensive and still has room to grow.
However, I would rather see us pay a little extra for Max Aarons, who seems destined to develop into one of the Premier League’s best right-backs over the coming years.
Not only could he potentially be our starting right-back for the next decade but he would also help to solve our issues with fulfilling the homegrown criteria.
