Alasdair Gold has revealed that Emerson Royal might return to action sooner than initially expected after the Brazilian’s surgery on his knee was successful.
Emerson would have been delighted to earn a recall to the Brazil squad on the back of his improved performances for Tottenham over recent months but his return to the Selecao set-up did not go as planned.

Brazil fell to a 2-1 loss to Morocco in an international friendly and to rub salt into the wounds, the right-back picked up a knee injury in stoppage time.
The Independent reported a few days ago that Emerson was set to go under the knife after picking up the injury.
The publication added that the 24-year-old was expected to be out of action for six weeks, which meant that he would be racing against time to be fit before Tottenham’s Premier League season ends on May 28.
Gold has now revealed that Emerson successfully underwent surgery in Brazil and is expected to return to London on Monday.
The journalist also offered a more promising return date for the former Real Betis man, stating that he is expected to be out for three to six weeks.
Emerson Royal had surgery on the meniscus in his knee today in Brazil. Sounds like it was a success and the recovery is being estimated as between three and six weeks. He'll be back in England on Monday.

Stellini, Mason and co will be hoping that Emerson returns closer to the three-week mark than the six-week one, especially given the other injury issues in the two wing-back positions.
If Porro were to pull up with an injury over the next couple of weeks, we would really be in deep trouble.
