Tottenham Hotspur fans may be keeping an eye on the Carabao Cup as a potential route to silverware this season, as the club looks to finally end that drought.
Tottenham were beaten 3-0 on aggregate across two legs by Chelsea last season as they could only reach the semi-finals of the domestic cup competition.
However, the Lilywhites have improved their squad and their form considerably since then, recording a 2-2 draw away to the same opponents earlier this month.
Winning at least one of the domestic cups alongside a top-four finish in the Premier League would be a great achievement for Antonio Conte and Spurs this season, so the EFL cup third-round draw could be interesting viewing tonight.
Spurs could face off against some heavy hitters despite the early stage of the cup, although there will also be plenty of lower-league clubs up for grabs.
How to watch the third-round draw?
The draw for the third round in the Carabao Cup will be held this evening (Wednesday, August 24) from 9.45 pm BST. It will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football and can also be streamed on their YouTube channel.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Taking one step at a time is the right way to go about things if Conte wants to create a legacy at Tottenham. Getting their hands on the Carabao Cup should be among the priorities for that very reason, even if the competition is not as prestigious as the Premier League or even the FA Cup.
After all, winning the English League Cup would give the players something of materialistic value, which they can use to push themselves to further glory. Their morale would also be boosted in the process as they would have something to show for the improvements they have made so far.
