Roma are interested in signing Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga on loan for the season, according to Il Tempo (31/07/22, print edition, page 16).
The Giallorossi are said to be keen on adding a central defender this summer and are interested in landing Tanganga on a temporary deal with an option to buy him permanently.
The report adds that the Spurs academy graduate is on a shortlist containing Dan Axel Zagadou, who recently departed Borussia Dortmund as a free agent and Manchester United’s Eric Bailly.
Roma’s emergence in the race for Tanganga comes after the 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to fellow Serie A outfit AC Milan in recent weeks.
Football Insider report a move to the Italian capital is now close with Tanganga in advanced talks to finalise a switch to the San Siro.
CalcioMercatoWeb claim Milan are keen on completing a loan deal with an option to buy while Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici pushed for an obligation clause at 25 million (£21.2m).
Spurs Web Opinion
While it looked like Tanganga was destined to move to Milan, Roma’s emergence in the pursuit could complicate things if they are serious about a transfer. Either way, it could be good news for Spurs if two clubs could fight over one player they are looking to offload.
