Alfie Devine proved that the FA Cup still has magical moments after the teenager had an evening to remember on Merseyside.
The teenager came off the bench for the second half of yesterday’s FA Cup third round match against Marine to become the club’s youngest-ever player to feature in a competitive fixture at 16 years and 163 days old, beating Dane Scarlett’s record (Alasdair Gold).
Having not been content with having one record to his name, just 15 minutes after taking to the field the midfielder buried the ball into the bottom corner at the Bayleigh Passant’s near post to round off the scoring at 5-0.
Devine made the move to North London from Wigan Athletic during the summer in a £300,000 deal after the Latics went into administration (Football.London).
After the match, Devine took to Instagram to reflect on his whirlwind 45 minutes by claiming that it is a night that he will never forget and hopes to get more opportunities to represent the club.
