It was a dream debut for young Alfie Devine at the weekend when Tottenham took on Marine FC in the FA Cup third round.
The 16-year-old was named on the bench for the tie alongside the likes of Heung-min Son and Gareth Bale, an honour in itself.
However, Jose Mourinho called upon the teenager at half-time, replacing Moussa Sissoko and becoming the youngest-ever first-team player for Tottenham.
Not content with just one record on his debut, Devine eventually showed off his goal-scoring abilities by cutting inside and lashing a near-post shot beyond the keeper.
Despite this breakthrough on his debut, Devine was not rewarded by any kind of promotion to permanent first-team training it appears.
Jose Mourinho revealed in his press conference today that he had sent Devine ‘back to where he belongs’ in the U18 side in order to bring him back down to Earth (Dan Kilpatrick).
It appears that the Spurs head coach will not be getting carried away with the teenage talent, but Devine is certainly one to watch for the future.
#thfc Mourinho says he has sent Alfie Devine “back to where he belongs” in the U-18s for two to three weeks to bring him back down to earth after Marine goal.
