Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Alfie Devine is likely to be loaned out during the January transfer window.
Devine’s impressive performances in Premier League 2 last season seemingly caught Antonio Conte’s eye, with the Italian naming the midfielder on the bench for three Premier League matches and an FA Cup game.
The 18-year-old showed his quality once again in the UEFA Youth League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt at Hotspur Way on Wednesday, with the youngster netting a first-half brace to put his side 2-0 up before the Germans came back to win 3-2.
Gold has revealed that Devine would have been loaned out in the summer if he had not picked up a hamstring injury, and added that the midfielder was also hoping to go out on loan last season.
The journalist stated that if the teenager stays fit, he is likely to follow in Dane Scarlett’s footsteps by going out on loan to an EFL club in January.
Gold suggested that there will be no shortage of suitors for Devine when the transfer window reopens.
Spurs Web Opinion
Devine has already shown that he is too good for the Under-21s and that he is ready to play senior football. So loaning him to a League One club would be the ideal to fast forward his development. However, Spurs must find the right club, who have a possession-based style of play, so that Devine can showcase his best.
