According to talkSPORT, Eric Dier is considering signing a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.

Tottenham were unable to offload Dier before Friday’s 11 pm transfer deadline, with reports indicating that potential moves to Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest collapsed on deadline day since there was no deal that suited both Spurs and the player (The Athletic).

Dier considering a pre-contract agreement

Dier will be down to the final six months of his contract at Tottenham in January, and will thus be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside the Premier League.

According to talkSPORT, that is exactly what the centre-back intends to do as he wants to move to a foreign club next summer. The outlet adds Fulham also explored a late move for the England international but were unable to agree a deal.

Dier is said to be content to see out his contract at Spurs and it is explained that Tottenham’s inability to ship him out scuppered the club’s hopes of landing Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo or Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans might not like the fact that Dier has dug his heals in but the centre-back is fully within his rights to run down his contract and leave on a free next summer.

However, having said that, I am quite surprised that the 29-year-old is ready to throw away an entire season just to get the move he wants next summer.
