A number of clubs are thought to be interested in signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest this summer, but Tottenham Hotspur may be able to use Davinson Sanchez as a ‘makeweight’ in any potential deal.

With a number of positions reinforced in the Spurs squad this summer, it seems the club has now turned its attention to adding another attacker to the already impressive roster of talent available to Ange Postecoglou.

The Lilywhites have, of course, just lost their talismanic striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, leaving a considerable gap in the Tottenham front line.

The North London club have been linked with a number of exciting young talents in that department already this summer. Just this week, the likes of Jeremy Doku (Independent) and Wilfried Gnonto (LondonWorld) have emerged as possible acquisitions for Spurs.

Brennan Johnson, meanwhile, is a player Tottenham have been linked with for quite some time, and it was reported yesterday that his current side would demand at least £40m to let him go (The Independent).

Sanchez could be key to Brennan Johnson deal

That report claimed Spurs would face competition from Chelsea and Brentford for the young Welshman, but it appears Davinson Sanchez could give Tottenham the advantage in the race to sign the Nottingham Forest star.

According to the latest from the Daily Mail, Sanchez is highly likely to leave Spurs this summer with clubs such as Monaco and Galatasaray eyeing a move for the Colombian.

However, Tottenham may have other ideas for the defender, as the report claims they are considering using Sanchez as a “potential makeweight” in any deal for Johnson. It is suggested Spurs could make a cash plus player offer for the 22-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

Davinson Sanchez has to go during this transfer window, so if we can use him to make a deal easier to strike for one of our attacking targets then it makes sense to do so.

His time at Spurs may be at an end, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still do a job for Nottingham Forest, and I can definitely see Sanchez being useful to them.
