The Athletic have revealed that Nottingham Forest are willing to sell Tottenham target Brennan Johnson this summer for the right fee.
Tottenham were credited with an interest in Johnson at the end of last month (The Daily Mail) and it has subsequently been backed up by other sources, including The Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor, who described the reports as ‘very credible’ (GiveMeSport).
The Athletic have also reported on Spurs’ interest in Johnson but they explain that the Lilywhites are far from the only top-flight club eyeing the 22-year-old on the back of his impressive showing in his debut Premier League campaign.
The publication states that Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham United have all expressed interest in Johnson at various points while Atletico Madrid have also been monitoring the player’s situation since the start of the summer.
Tottenham are still interested in Brennan Johnson
However, it is asserted that only Tottenham and Brentford have made ‘any meaningful effort’ to secure Johnson’s services so far this summer.
The report adds that the Bees have already an offer of around £40m including add-ons turned down by Forest, who are holding out for £50m for the versatile attacking midfielder.
Spurs Web Opinion
Apart from signing one more centre-forward, centre-back and a centre midfielder, I am fully convinced that Spurs will also look to sign one more attacking player – potentially someone who can operate centrally as well as out wide.
Johnson could quite possibly be the player that the North London club target, given that he is homegrown, of the right age and is seemingly on the market.
