Martin Keown has waxed lyrical about rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Brennan Johnson following his display in Nottingham Forest’s 4-1 win over Leicester on Sunday.
After impressing on loan at Lincoln City last campaign, Johnson has established himself as a mainstay in Forest’s starting lineup this season and has taken the Championship by storm.
The attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing through the middle or in either flank, has seven goals and five assists in 27 Championship matches so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).
The Sun reported in December Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal and Brentford hold an interest in the 20-year-old.
However, Forest allegedly slapped a £20m price tag on Johnson’s head during the January transfer window, which is thought to have put off interested clubs from pursuing the player (Sky Sports).
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed on his latest YouTube video (starting at 1:01:52) that Fabio Paratici was expected to be at City Ground to run the rule over the youngster in Forests’ FA Cup fourth-round clash against Leicester.
If Spurs’ managing director of football was in attendance at Sunday’s game, he cannot have been helped but be impressed by Johnson’s display as the Wales international played a pivotal role in helping the Championship side thrash the Foxes.
Keown told BBC Sport about Johnson’s display on Sunday: “Brennan Johnson has been outstanding. His involvement, pace and intelligence.
“He is ready-made for the Premier League. Obviously, Forest fans will be hoping he stays in Nottingham.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Paratici was in attendance at the City Ground, it is possible that Djed Spence was of more interest to the Italian than Johnson.
However, there is no question that an attacking midfielder will be at the top of Conte’s wishlist in the summer as neither Lo Celso nor Ndombele seem like they have a future at Spurs.
