According to TEAMtalk, rumoured Tottenham targets Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson could both stay put at Nottingham Forest if the club win promotion to the top flight.
Spence, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, with the North London club reportedly having had an offer rejected for the right-back in January (90min).
The Evening Standard reported in March that Boro were resigned to losing the England Under-21 international for a cut-price fee of just around £12m.
Meanwhile, Johnson has also taken the Championship by storm, having scored 15 times and provided nine assists until now (Transfermarkt).
The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also play on either flank, has reportedly been scouted by Tottenham ahead of the summer (The Sun).
However, TEAMtalk now claim that both Johnson and Spence could stay put at City Ground if Forest win promotion to the top flight. Steve Cooper’s side have already secured their place in the playoffs and now have their sights set on promotion.
Forest chiefs have allegedly prioritised signing Spence on a permanent deal if they manage to win promotion while they also expect to hang on to Johnson if they make it to the top flight.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spence would certainly tick a lot of boxes for us as he seems to have the engine and technical quality to play as a right wing-back in Conte’s system while also being homegrown and relatively inexpensive.
So, one would assume that the 21-year-old is Tottenham’s top target for the right wing-back role. The Spurs chiefs will desperately be hoping that Forest do not win promotion.
