Even while injured, the future of Ivan Perisic is still a hot topic around Tottenham Hotspur. Now, an old friend of his, and the physio for LASK Linz, Ivan Porobija has spoken on the matter.
Ever since joining Tottenham from Inter Milan on a free transfer last summer, it seems Ivan Perisic has been somewhat unsettled, at least according to the press.
The departure of his former manager, Antonio Conte, back in March certainly didn’t help matters.
Despite many expecting the Croatian to move on this summer, Perisic remained as part of Ange Postecoglou‘s squad for the new campaign. He even played a part in the first six games of the season, providing two assists (Transfermarkt).
We won’t be seeing Perisic in action for a while now, however, after the veteran suffered an ACL injury in training recently. The 34-year-old has undergone surgery but will be on the sidelines until next year.
Will Perisic end up at Hajduk Split?
With Spurs signing 16-year-old defender Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split, there has been intense speculation that Perisic would go in the opposite direction and return to Croatia (Tportal).
Now, Perisic’s friend and Croatian physio, Ivan Porobija has discussed the speculation with Sportske Novosti.
He said: “We were alone, we talked for a while. Hajduk? We didn’t discuss any topics of the future, because Ivan is exclusively focused on recovery.
“Where that recovery will take place, Perisic will decide in cooperation with Tottenham, but the most important thing is that the doctors predict a successful recovery. This is the news that pleases everyone the most.”
Spurs Web Opinion
There is not really any chance for Perisic to leave until next summer now anyway, but there is almost no doubt that he will move on then. I would be very surprised if he didn’t end up at Hajduk, as it would be ideal to bring his career full circle in that way.
