Aaron Ramsey has said that Tottenham’s new summer signing has the quality to reach the very top of the game and remarked that the move to N17 could help the youngster reach that next level.
There has been plenty of excitement around Johnson since he first broke into Nottingham Forest’s senior side and the youngster demonstrated in his debut Premier League campaign last term that he is more than good enough to perform at the the highest level.
According to reports, the versatile forward was Ange Postecoglou’s top attacking target right from the outset, with Spurs alleged to believe that they have secured one of the best young players in British football (Telegraph).
The 22-year-old has also impressed for Wales ever since first being capped for the Dragons, already having 22 caps to his name.
Wales’ skipper, Ramsey, who has seen Johnson closely, admitted that he and his international teammates are excited about the new Tottenham signing’s potential.
Aaron Ramsey thinks Johnson could be ‘scary’ good
When asked about the player’s move from City Ground to the Lilywhites, the former Arsenal midfielder joked: “I wish it weren’t to Tottenham!” before adding: “No, I think, from his point of view, it’s a brilliant move from him.
“The potential that he has is quite scary and hopefully now he can take them next steps and go to the next level if you like.
“It’s going to be important for Wales as well, he’s going to be huge for us over the next whatever years that is. We’re all excited and hopefully, he has another platform to go on and improve himself again.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While Johnson might not set the world alight in the Premier League last season, he did show a lot of promise. Playing in an attacking team like Postecoglou’s Spurs with better players around him, could bring the best out of the 22-year-old.
