Football journalist Miguel Delaney has claimed Tottenham’s interest in Everton forward Richarlison is likely to be overshadowed by that of Chelsea.

The Brazilian international, who joined the Toffees from Watford in 2018 helped the club fight off relegation from the Premier League last season.

Despite his cult hero status at Goodison Park, it has been suggested that he wants to leave Everton this summer with hope of landing a place at another English side (Goal Brasil).

A host of suitors have come forward with interest in Richarlison, with Spurs named as one club thought to be keen on sealing a transfer (The Athletic).

Antonio Conte’s side face competition from across London, though, with both of Arsenal and Chelsea also thought to be admirers of the 25-year-old (UOL).

However, it has since emerged that the two north London clubs in particular could be forced to yield their own places in the pursuit.

Writing in his newsletter for the Independent, Delaney has revealed any interest in Richarlison held by Spurs and Arsenal is expected to be “trumped” by Chelsea, who are embarking on their first transfer window under new ownership.

The Blues were recently taken over for £4.25bn by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly, which brought an end to Roman Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of the club (Sky Sports).

The finances behind a deal for Richarlison is expected to cost a lot regardless and Chelsea’s presence will ensure that is the case.

Richarlison could be a decent addition given he can play across the front line, but Spurs may not necessarily want to allocate that much cash in that area.
