Richarlison’s difficult start to the season continued as he failed to covert for Brazil with the goal gaping on Friday, and the forward was subsequently reduced to tears on the bench.

The pressure of having to fill Harry Kane’s shoes has clearly been difficult for Richarlison to handle at Tottenham, with the striker hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons after failing to get on the scoresheet in the Lilywhites’ first three Premier League matches of the season.

Richarlison needs support from Tottenham fans

The 26-year-old might have thought that his fortunes had started to turn when he scored in Spurs’ Carabao Cup clash against Fulham, but he was subsequently benched by Ange Postecogou for the trip to Turf Moor last week, with Son Heung-min netting a hat-trick in the number nine role.

Richarlison’s troubles have continued into the international stage as the Tottenham man blazed over from a few yards out in Brazil’s 5-1 win over Bolivia in the World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The former Everton man came off midway into the second half and was reduced to tears on the bench.

Spurs Web Opinion

Richarlison is clearly an emotional character who wears his heart on his sleeve and is going through the toughest time of his career. It is during times like this that supporters need to show him some love to help him build back his confidence.

The last thing he needs right now is to be at the end of a social media pile-on or to hear Spurs fans in the ground mete out a similar treatment to him as the one they did to Davinson Sanchez last season.
