Brazilian journalist Alicia Klein has revealed that Selecao’s new manager Fernando Diniz has a degree in psychology and is thus the right man to help Richarlison get over his current predicament.
One does not have to be a body language expert to see that Richarlison is struggling emotionally, with the striking looking quite a frustrated figure in Tottenham’s first few games of the season.
His struggles continued on the international stage as the 26-year-old was pictured in tears on the bench after fluffing his lines when a big chance fell to him during Brazil’s 5-1 win over Bolivia last week.
Richarlison clarified to Globo Esporte on Tuesday that his tears did not have to do with his on-pitch performance but due to the troubles he has had in his personal life recently.
The striker admitted that he plans to see ‘psychological help’ when he returns to London and reiterated his determination to turn his form around at Tottenham.
The Brazil manager has a degree in psychology
Klein has now revealed that Diniz himself has a background in psychology, which is why he handed Richarlison a start against Peru on Tuesday.
She told UOL: “Fernando Diniz knows all this. He has a degree in psychology. Perhaps that’s why he made a point of reinforcing his belief in Richarlison by giving him another chance in today’s match against Peru.
“May this external confidence help the Pigeon to rediscover his internal confidence and, with it, his nose for goal. It’ll be good for everyone.”

It is good that Richardson has opened up about his problems and is planning on seeking professional help. The striker’s on-field performances are frankly not as important as him first addressing his mental health and getting all the help that he needs.
