It looks like Tottenham are set to admit defeat in their pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo, with multiple sources now reporting that AS Monaco are making advances towards signing the Fulham star.
Tottenham are thought to be in the market for another central defender in the final few days of the transfer window and it emerged a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites have explored the possibility of using Eric Dier in a deal to sign Adarabioyo from Fulham (Sky Sports).
However, multiple journalists are now reporting that Monaco have stepped up efforts to conclude a late deal for the 25-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to state that the Ligue 1 club are locked in negotiations with Fulham and are now ‘pushing’ to sign Adarabioyo.
He added that the principality club are waiting to conclude the signing of Folarin Balogun before finalising the capture of the centre-back.
This comes after Daily Mail reported this week that Spurs were stepping up their interest in the centre-back in order to make a late push.

This information has also been backed by Lyall Thomas, who has now said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Tottenham’s pursuit of Adarabioyo appears to be over as the centre-back looks likely to join Moncao.
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the various reports over the last month, it was always quite clear that Adarabioyo preferred to move to Monaco over Spurs, possibly because he was concerned about not getting regular game time at the North London club.
It is anybody’s guess at the moment who Tottenham’s top centre-back target is, with the Perr Shuurs speculation also dying out over the last couple of weeks.
