Pete O’Rourke has said in his column on Football Insider that Tottenham Hotspur could sign Tosin Adarabioyo in January after failing to do so this summer.
Some Spurs fans were left disappointed that Micky van de Ven was the only senior centre-back signed by Tottenham this summer as the club appeared to be in need of more reinforcements at the back.
The player who was the most heavily linked with a move to the North London side throughout the summer was Adarabioyo (Sky Sports), but he ended up staying out at Fulham despite the fact that his contract at Craven Cottage runs out next June (Transfermarkt).
Tosin Adarabioyo likely to leave Fulham in January
O’Rourke has now said that the Cottagers will now likely revisit an exit for Adarabioyo in January as the defender has already burned his bridges at Fulham.
It is alleged that it will be hard for Marco Silva to reintegrate the 25-year-old into his squad, with the player having trained alone until recently.
The journalist adds that Tottenham could try and push through a cut-price deal for Adarabioyo in January, given his contract situation.
However, O’Rourke also points out that the centre-back could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January, which might potentially give Monaco, who also showed interest in him this summer, an advantage.
Spurs Web Opinion
I doubt Adarabioyo would want to spend the entire season on the bench and leave on a free transfer next summer. So, unless he is able to force himself into Marco Silva’s plans over the next few months, Tottenham stand a decent chance of winning the race for him in January.
