Southampton are said to be demanding £35million for Tottenham target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a report in The Evening Standard.

Hojbjerg has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs, with The Daily Star reporting earlier this week that the North Londoners were primed to make an opening offer for the midfielder’s services after receiving encouragement from Southampton.

The 24-year-old, who just has a year left to run on his contract, is already said to have rejected multiple offers to extend his stay at St Mary’s (Football Insider).

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and the club’s Chief executive Martin Semmens BBC Solent Sport (via Football.London) have both hinted that the Denmark International could leave the South Coast this summer if he does not sign an extension.

However, The Evening Standard now reports that, despite Hojbjerg having only twelve months left on his deal, Southampton are determined to fetch a good price.

It is claimed that they will not accept any offer below £35million for their skipper.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given how drastically transfer fees are projected to fall this summer, I do not see how any club would pay £35million for Hojbjerg when they could just sign him for free next year. If he does not sign a new deal with the Saints, they will be forced to reduce their valuation.
