Tottenham Hotspur value rumoured midfield target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at around £20million, according to a report by The Times.

Hojbjerg, who has only a year left to run on his contract with Southampton has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the past few months (Football Insider).

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed this week that the 24-year-old has been stripped of the club captaincy after he refused to sell sign a contract extension (The Independent).

The Evening Standard reported last week that the Saints had slapped a £35million asking price on the midfielder’s head amidst interest from Spurs and Everton.

However, The Times claim that Spurs are not willing to meet Southampton’s valuation of the Danish international.

It is said that the North Londoners hope to land the midfielder for around £20million, and the two clubs are subsequently around £15million apart in their respective valuations of Hojbjerg.

The report also contends that the Saints are not willing to accept any swap deal involving Kyle Walker-Peters as they are not particularly keen on bringing the defender to the St Mary’s on a permanent basis.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no way that Hojbjerg is worth anywhere near £35m with just a year to run on his contract, particularly considering how much player values are expected to drop due to the financial impact of COVID-19.

They will have to eventually bring their asking price down and I expect Levy to play hardball and for the transfer saga to potentially drag on till the end of the window. I just hope Everton do not swoop in and offer a larger fee than we are willing to.
