Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, has seemingly issued a come and get me plea to Premier League’s top six by revealing that he wants to play at an even higher level.
Hojbjerg is said to be one of the names on Spurs’ transfer radar (Sky Sports), with the Denmark international having been a consistent performer in the heart of the Saints midfield for the last few seasons.
The Southampton man admitted last month that he was flattered to be linked with the Lilywhites (Viaplay via BT).
The Telegraph have claimed that Spurs are waiting to assess the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic before making an offer for the Southampton star, who only has a year left on his contract with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
Hojbjerg has now admitted that he has made his intentions of playing at a higher level clear to Southampton.
Speaking to Sport 1, the 24-year-old said: “I know what I want, the club knows it too. I want to play at an even higher level than I am currently.
“The relationship between me and Southampton is fantastic. The club gave me the platform to grow.
“I’m not saying ‘Goodbye’ and I’m focused on my club, but my goal is very clear: I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League.”

The fact that Hojbjerg has mentioned wanting to win the Premier League indicates that he wants to stay in England. I will be extremely surprised if we don’t make an approach for him this summer given that he won’t be too expensive and he exactly fits the bill of what we need in terms of a midfield pivot.
