Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton in order to seal a deal for midfield target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, according to a report in Football Insider.
Walker-Peters was loaned out to Southampton in January but he featured only once for the Saints before the Premier League was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic (transfermarkt.com).
However, reports have indicated that Ralph Hasenhuttl is a fan of the 23-year-old and wants to complete a permanent deal for the defender in the summer (Sky Sports).
Hojbjerg, who has been one of the Southampton’s most consistent performers over the past two seasons, is said to be the Lilywhites’ primary midfield target this summer.
The Denmark international is one of several stars who has been backed to leave the South Coast this summer due to the club’s pandemic-related cash flow problems (The Daily Star).
Football Insider now reveal that, although Everton are pushing Spurs for Hojbjerg’s signature, the Lilywhites are hoping to snap up the midfielder by using Walker-Peters to sweeten the deal.
Spurs Web Opinion
Hojbjerg’s rumoured move to Spurs seems to be gathering momentum given that Southampton are said to be open to selling him and he perfectly suits what we need at the moment. Even if the Saints aren’t keen on singing Walker-Peters, I believe we would still have an advantage over Everton as I believe that Hojbjerg would prefer a move to Spurs.
