Tottenham’s pursuit of Southampton star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may have just received a boost as The Scottish Sun report that the Saints could be ready to step up their interest in Celtic midfielder, Olivier Ntcham.

Hojbjerg is said to be Tottenham’s top midfield target this summer, according to Football Insider.

The Denmark international has just one year left to run on his contract at St Mary’s and he recently revealed that he has informed the club of his desire to play at a higher level (Sport 1).

Reports have even indicated that Spurs could offer Kyle Walker-Peters in part exchange to Southampton in an effort to land the 24-year-old midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Sun suggest that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will offer Fraser Forster to Celtic in order to sign Ntcham, who is said to be a long-term target for the Saints.

It is claimed that the French Under-21 midfielder is viewed by Southampton as the man to replace Hojbjerg. So, if the deal does go through, it may open the door for Spurs to complete a move for the hard-tackling midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Southampton seem to be in desperate need of cash at the moment, they cannot afford to allow Hojbjerg to run his contract down and leave on a free next summer. Therefore, they will have to sell him when the transfer market opens and it would be a no-brainer for us to go for him since he is likely to come cheap and fits the bill of what we need in midfield.
