Ledley King believes that Totenham’s representation of six players in the England squad is a tribute to how well Harry Redknapp’s side have done this season.
King has been joined in Fabio Capello’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup by Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone, Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.
He told the club’s official website: “I’m looking forward to the training camp and there are six lads from Spurs so I’ll be in good company.
“It’s a reflection of the season that we’ve had and there are other Spurs players who could have been involved in the squad had they played more this season.
“It just goes to show we have a great base of English players at this club.
“Any player will tell you they dream of playing in the World Cup and so far I’ve never had the opportunity to do that.
“To be picked in the 30-man squad gives me the opportunity to prove that I deserve to go to South Africa.”
