Harry Winks has been speaking to the press for the first time as a Leicester City player, and revealed he is excited about the new challenge he faces in his career since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
A Tottenham fan and a product of the Spurs academy, Winks developed through the age groups at the club to become a first-team regular.
He played 203 times for the Lilywhites, scoring five goals and registering six assists during his time in North London (Transfermarkt).
The midfielder found first-team opportunities harder to come by under Antonio Conte and the decision was made to send Winks on loan to Sampdoria for the 2022/23 campaign.
Despite injury keeping him out of action for the first half of the season, he was able to impress across 20 appearances for the Italian side (Transfermarkt).
With that loan spell at an end, it was clear that Winks would be one of the players heading for the exit door at Tottenham this summer.
The club announced Winks had departed for Leicester City last week.
Harry Winks is delighted to be at Leicester
Speaking to LCFC TV for the first time since the move, Winks was full of excitement about the new chapter in his footballing journey.
He said: “I’m delighted. I’m really excited for the challenge ahead. It’s an amazing club with great history and the facilities are incredible. I’m just so happy to be here and ready to get going.
“I’m looking forward to getting started, to have a full pre-season with the team and come here early to get ready for the games coming up.
“It’s going to be an important few weeks to get everyone ready and to push myself getting fit.
“I’m also looking forward to a new challenge and to challenge myself. Coming to a club like Leicester is the perfect chance to do that.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I have a feeling Winks will be a big success at Leicester and can help fire the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Hopefully, he can stay fit and show the kind of form we know he is capable of.
